‘A mother who takes care of herself’

We want a mother who can take care of herself.

Children can worry about their mother being ill.  Like in an aeroplane emergency, they need her to put on her own oxygen mask in order to be able to put theirs on properly.

It is not enough if she can still look after the children, if they don’t feel she can look after herself.

But it may be the best she can manage.

About thetroublewithillness

I've been a counsellor for people with physical illnesses for a long time now, and learnt a lot about what it's like living with your own or someone else's illness. I want to pass some of this on.
